OUR AIM IS SIMPLE
To bring people together to meet, eat and be inspired
We all have to eat and drink to survive but for you food more than just something to eat. To you food is source of inspiration, creativity and connection with people.
You care deeply about where your food comes from and go out of your way to find the freshest, tastiest and most enjoyable food around. You’re inspired by the people who grow it, make it, serve it and sell it; you’re as curious about them as the craft and products that bring you such pleasure.
You’re always on the look out to find ways to explore and immerse yourself in the world of food and drink. You love to cook or be cooked for – the act of sharing food is a heartfelt sign of your love, appreciation and friendship. You enjoy sharing a meal and thought-provoking conversation with like-minded people.
The good news is that you’re in the right place.
We connect people around the table, in the kitchen and across the food and drink community so people can meet, eat and be inspired by the world of good food and drink.

Food Gatherings was founded by Julie Treanor, a self-confessed food enthusiast in search of a like-minded community. Julie’s interest in food stretches from the kitchen to garden and among food shops, cafes and restaurants. She studies food writing, photography and gastronomy to fuel her appetite for all things food and drink related.
Food Gatherings is Julie’s way to fuse those passions and instigate inspiring connections with other food-minded people – eaters, cook, chefs, producers, purveyors, makers and creators who focus their writing, art and research on food and drink.
Since late 2014, Julie has instigated Food Gatherings in Wellington, New Zealand.
Elissa Jordan is Food Gatherings’ resident wino. In recent years, she has turned a general interest in wine into a near obsession and become a dedicated student of the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust (WSET) diploma certification.
Through writing about wine, running wine appreciation meet-ups and bringing a wine focus to Food Gatherings, Elissa is on a mission to help and inspire others to take a closer look at what wine is in their glass.
A native of norther Ontario, Canada, Elissa is something of an adventurer having travelled across 30 countries of the world before settling in London and then Wellington in 2010. She now spends her days as a project manager and business analyst, her evenings and weekends as a yoga teacher and any spare moment in between thinking about and drinking wine.
